A pair of jeans is sitting on a wooden table next to ribbons and confetti

Supplies List:

This project will make (2) Flags if you like.

  • 1 Pair of old Jeans
  • 36 – inch Round Dowel (cut in half)
  • 13 Felt White Stars (If making 1 or 26 for 2 flags)
  • 5 Red Ribbon – Different width and types
  • 5 White Ribbon – Different width and types
  • Ribbon for Hanging
  • Glue Gun / Glue Sticks
  • Scissors
  • Ruler

Step 1:

Cut the pockets out of the old pair of jeans, leave about 2 inches above the pocket to loop over the dowel.

Step 2:

Start by leaving 1 inch on either side of the dowel for the hanging ribbon. Lay out the cut jean pocket over the dowel on the left side. Glue gun the pocket to the dowel.

Step 3:

You will need to figure out how many strips of ribbon you will need to go under the pocket (you will need anywhere from 5 to 9 ribbons depending on how wide your ribbons are). Cut the ribbon for under the pocket into 10 inch in length strips. Starting with the red ribbon and alternating with the white. To secure the ribbon to the pocket glue on the back side of the pocket.

Step 4:

Finish laying out the remaining ribbon on the dowel to figure out how much more ribbon strips you will need. Cut the ribbon that loops over the dowel to 18 inches in length. Once you have everything laid out the way you want it, glue gun the strips in place by looping one end of the ribbon around the dowel.

Step 5:

Arrange the 13 stars to the pocket in a circle and glue gun them in place.

Step 6:

Tie the hanging ribbon to both ends of the dowel and glue gun. For an extra touch you could add lights to the pocket.

*This flag is best used indoors

Enjoy!
